I guess the question is what would be considered a success?

I distinctly remember a large chinese-american push for folks to see A Great Wall back in the 80s. It showed in roughtly the same venues (in DC anyway) and did fairly well but the only ones there were asians.

I think that the first step has been taken a decade ago. The real question is follow-up.

I think for me a success will be if the producers can capitalize on the limited success of BLT to get another movie out that has more mainstream appeal but still portray APAs in a "normal" light.

For that I'll throw $10 their way on the off chance they succeed.

PS I finally went out and bought A Great Wall again. Other than the 80s clothing (heh, we used to wear our collars up...and Members Only jackets were popular) and vintage computer gear it aged pretty well. I dunno how much Beijing has changed so I can't comment on that part.
