Re: Now Target's doing the same thing (Score: 0) by Anonymous on Tuesday, October 29 @ 11:14:26 EST | Wow, I never thought about that. I mean, I know that this country was built on genocide. However, i never thought about the "Redskins" issue. My answer to your question would be...
every race in American has its own struggle. You seldom ever see Native Americans at an African American civil rights protest, vice versa. You seldom ever see Asians struggle for Latino American rights. This is because we are all emersed in our own fight against sterotypes and Hatred.
The divide, is why we don't seem to progress. "Minority" means exactly what it says. That is, we are a Minor percentage of the population. Whites make up the majority. Therefore, on race alone fighting for a cause can hardly put a dent in the fight against racism. Now, If we all came together and started boycotting shit, think about the impact of that. We would scare the shit out of America. [pardon my languge]
Instead, we choose to go about it alone. Divided, we can't accomplish anything because our voices are hollow. It would take decades, or a calamitous event to change things at that rate. As one group of Minorities fighting for a common cause, change will come quick.

It says nothing offensive. I think this is just a pathetic attempt to draw attention to yourself, using Abercrombie because it is a large, well-known company. I just want to know what you would say to the many asian people who are employed with Abercrombie & Fitch, and who unlike yourself, understand that the t-shirts should not be taken seriously. |
